A Calif.-based Semiconductor manufacturer company known as InvenSense Inc. has announced introduced its SensorStudio alongside Samsung’s ARTIK 701 platform at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
According to Mark Wright, director of product management and platform and partnerships at Samsung. “Combining SensorStudio and the Samsung ARTIK platform helps our customers transmit their sensors and algorithms outputs faster to the Samsung ARTIK cloud, with end-to-end security,”
According to the report, the micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) sensor provider’s SensorStudio is a graphical software development tool designed to ease the development and programming of sensors and algorithms. Samsung Electronic’s ARTIK Smart Internet of Things (IoT) platform aims to provide a fast path to secure, interoperable and intelligent IoT products and services. The combined effort will integrate the embedded development capabilities of SensorStudio to Samsung ARTIK IT ecosystem, empowering developers with tools to differentiate and speed development time-to-market.
“We are listening to the growing InvenSense developers community, and [we] are enabling them to realize the distributed computing architecture required to achieve optimized successful IoT products,” said Herve Blanc, product marketing director at InvenSense. “SensorStudio is fast gaining traction with industry leaders such as the Samsung ARTIK IoT platform in assisting developers without specialized IoT skills to work quickly, and with greater productivity.”
According to the the company, the new alliance with Samsung reflects InvenSense’s larger push into emerging markets tied to the IoT revolution, such as wearables, connected homes and drones. InvenSense, which saw its stock surge 77% in late 2016, has agreed to be bought by Japan’s TDK Corp in a deal worth $1.3 billion. The Tokyo-based firm will use InvenSense to bolster its position in the sensor market, as the applications for next-gen sensor solutions multiply with expansive IoT adoption.
